EDUCATION and culture as part of the global movement has become part of Indonesia's history and has never only been a government program. Sixty one year ago, Ki Hadjar Dewantara expounded that illiteracy eradication program had long been part of the people's grassroots movement.

The Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC) has reaffirmed this spirit by incorporating this vision into the 2014-2019 Strategic Framework. The vision is to develop individuals and to build an ecosystem of education and culture with character found on the spirit of gotong royong (cooperation for the greater good).

We believe that cooperation should be the base for education ecosystem. Such an ecosystem needs the presence of empowered actors and positive interactions among participants, including the government. Like any healthy ecosystem, mutual interaction and cooperation between its members could bring about growth and sustainability.
